Gary Nicholls

Gary is the chief instructor and owner of the family-run business after taking it over in 2019, continuing the successful legacy of Dorset Advanced 20 years later.

Gary has ridden since he was 16 on a CBT and then got his full motorcycle licence when he was 21, many years ago. Since then he has had a wide variety of bikes and has recently enjoyed touring around Europe and the UK.

As an adventurous person, Gary has also branched into the world of social media and has found success with his TikTok and Instagram channels.

Kevin Long

Kevin joined Dorset Advanced in 2022 as our maintenance technician having got back into biking in 2021 following a 30 year break from it.

Now Kevin is one of our CBT instructors and has been doing this since June 2024.

From previously working in a school and coaching children's football Kevin has the knowledge and understanding of training as well as as a passion for motorcycles, having owned 10 different bikes just since 2021.

Jason Cartridge

Jason is an experienced motorcyclist with 38 years experience, including 18+ years as a Police Motorcyclist, gaining his Police Class 1 Advanced Car and Motorcycle qualifications and advanced IAM qualifications. He was one of Dorset Police's BikeSafe trainers, helping other motorcyclists develop riding skills and improve road safety awareness. Jason has more than 7 years experience working in a Police Road Safety Team, a medical trainer for DocBike and Biker Down, delivering training focused on dealing with serious motorcycle incidents and providing immediate life support at the scene.

With a career built around professional training, road safety and operational experience, Jason brings a wealth of knowledge to his motorcycle instruction.
